Intro To Essential Oils - 2

Posted by Avani Team on

Due to its versatility, there are many wonderful ways to use essential oils.  The three main ways to use essential oils are: diffusion, topical (applying) application and household.

There is much evidence that essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream when inhaled.  One of the most effective ways to use essential oils is with diffusion.

Using a diffuser can help you experience the benefits of essential oils.  The ultrasonic technology produces vibrations at a high frequency, turning the water and oil into mist.  As you breathe in the aromatic mist, the oil's beneficial properties are immediately absorbed into your body.

Some popular essential oils you may try include: lavender to reduce stress, tea tree to cleanse the air, wild orange to improve mood, frankincense for meditation and peppermint to improve focus and energy.

This method works best when you have a specific area of the body that needs relief.   When applied to the skin, the extremely small constituents of essential oils are able to penetrate the skin and pass into the blood stream and into different areas of the body for internal therapeutic benefits.

One important thing to note: Most essential oils aren’t meant to be applied directly to your skin or hair. Instead, mix them with a carrier oil — eg. coconut, olive, jojoba, argan, sweet almond — to avoid skin irritation.   The carrier oil also increases the length of time the essential oils stay on your skin and prolong the aromatherapy effects.

In the beauty world, essential oils are being increasingly incorporated into various skincare products and for treating various skin conditions in personal beauty regimes.

Essential oils are great for household purposes, eg. cleaning and other uses in the home instead of using potentially harmful chemical cleaners.  You can also mix your favorite household essential oils with water, baking soda, vinegar or borax to create DIY, natural cleaning and eco-friendly recipes to clean all areas of your home from the bathroom to the kitchen.

Now that you know what they are and how to use them, it’s very easy to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine.   No matter what stage of life you’re in, you can harness the tremendous effects essential oils has on emotional wellbeing, physical health or spiritual mindfulness.  For a lovely and enriching experience every day, we can use essential oils aromatic and wellness properties as calming rituals, to relax and refresh or as preventive remedies.
